For many people, religious faith and spiritual life are central to their sense of meaning and identity — yet this dimension is often overlooked, or handled clumsily, within mainstream psychological services. At London Trusted Therapy, we offer a genuinely respectful, open space in which religious and spiritual concerns can be explored with seriousness and sensitivity. Our therapists work with clients of all faiths and none.
Every practitioner at London Trusted Therapy holds substantial postgraduate training and professional accreditation, with a minimum of five years of clinical experience and an average of fifteen to twenty years across the team. Our practitioners include chartered and counselling psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors accredited with the BACP, UKCP, COSRT and HCPC- all working under the clinical direction of Dr Olena Edwards-Skadowska, BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, MBPsS, FMBPsS, and actively practising clinician.
Dr Edwards-Skadowska is the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award for Services to Mental Health, presented at the Health 2.0 Global Conference 2024 — a recognition that reflects the values of excellence, integrity, and genuine clinical commitment that run through everything London Trusted Therapy does.

Spiritual and religious difficulties often connect to deeper questions of identity, belonging, trauma, and loss. Our multidisciplinary structure means that where your needs extend beyond spiritual exploration — for example, where religious trauma has left significant psychological injury, or where existential crisis has triggered depression or anxiety — we can draw on the wider team, including EMDR, psychiatry, and psychodynamic approaches, without you needing to seek support elsewhere.
For religious and spiritual concerns, this means that existential and psychodynamic approaches are at the heart of our work — providing a thoughtful, genuinely open space in which questions of faith, doubt, meaning, and identity can be explored without agenda. Mindfulness-based approaches are offered with sensitivity to their relationship with contemplative traditions across many faiths. Where religious trauma has created significant psychological injury — including dissociation, anxiety, or depression — EMDR and trauma-informed approaches are integrated carefully. We bring deep respect for the complexity of spiritual life and never impose a secular or pathologising lens on your experience.
Should you feel that your first session did not meet your expectations or that your therapist wasn’t a good fit, we will provide another session completely free of charge with a different practitioner.
