Social Anxiety Therapy London

What Is Social Anxiety?

Social anxiety is far more than shyness. It is an intense, persistent fear of being judged, criticised, or humiliated in social situations — and it can make even everyday interactions feel overwhelming. Social anxiety disorder is one of the most common mental health conditions in the UK, yet it remains widely underdiagnosed and undertreated.

Our Practitioners Who Work with Social Anxiety

How We Treat Social Anxiety

We draw on CBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), ACT, and psychodynamic approaches. For those whose social anxiety is rooted in earlier experiences or trauma, EMDR and trauma-informed therapy can also be highly effective.

Signs You May Be Experiencing Social Anxiety

Why Choose London Trusted Therapy for Social Anxiety?

Social anxiety is not simply shyness, and it deserves more than a generic approach. At London Trusted Therapy, we understand that the experience of social anxiety is deeply personal — shaped by your history, your nervous system, and the meaning you have come to attach to how others perceive you. Our work begins there.

A clinically led, multidisciplinary team

Every practitioner at London Trusted Therapy holds substantial postgraduate training and professional accreditation, with a minimum of five years of clinical experience and an average of fifteen to twenty years across the team. Our practitioners include chartered and counselling psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors accredited with the BACP, UKCP, COSRT and HCPC- all working under the clinical direction of Dr Olena Edwards-Skadowska, BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, MBPsS, FMBPsS, and actively practising clinician.

Dr Edwards-Skadowska is the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award for Services to Mental Health, presented at the Health 2.0 Global Conference 2024 — a recognition that reflects the values of excellence, integrity, and genuine clinical commitment that run through everything London Trusted Therapy does.

At London Trusted Therapy, you will be seen by a practitioner who is an expert in social anxiety — someone who brings deep, focused expertise to your presentation, rather than whoever is next available.

What Our Clients Say About Us

4.86 rating based on Doctify, Google and Trustpilot reviews

The Breadth to Meet Your Full Picture

London Trusted Therapy is a genuinely multidisciplinary practice, which means that your care is not limited to a single therapeutic modality. Where your needs are complex or where one approach alone is unlikely to be sufficient, we are able to facilitate internal cross-referrals across the team — to EMDR specialists for trauma that underlies social anxiety, to psychiatry for assessment and medication review, or to other disciplines within the practice. This means your treatment can evolve with you, without the disruption and delay of starting again somewhere new.

A holistic, integrative approach

London Trusted Therapy is a holistic practice. We do not begin with a protocol and fit you to it — we begin with you.

For social anxiety, this means integrating mindfulness-based approaches to help you develop a different relationship with anxious thought and sensation; Somatic Experiencing to work with the nervous system directly, where anxiety is held in the body as much as the mind; and existential and psychodynamic exploration to understand the deeper meanings and relational roots of your fear of others’ judgement. Where structured skill-building is indicated, we draw on CBT and ACT as complementary tools within this broader framework. Where neurodevelopmental factors are relevant, our ADOS-2-trained clinicians bring additional sensitivity and expertise.
