Imposter Syndrome Therapy London

What Is Imposter Syndrome?

Imposter syndrome is the persistent internal experience of believing that you are not as competent or deserving as others perceive you to be — and that sooner or later, you will be ‘found out.’ Studies suggest that up to 70% of people experience it at some point. It is particularly common among high achievers, perfectionists, women in senior roles, and those from underrepresented backgrounds.

Our Practitioners Who Work with Imposter Syndrome

How We Treat Imposter Syndrome

Our approach draws on CBT to challenge distorted thinking, schema therapy to explore the earlier origins of imposter feelings, and therapeutic coaching to translate insight into professional confidence.

Signs You May Be Experiencing Imposter Syndrome

Why Choose London Trusted Therapy for Imposter Syndrome?

Imposter syndrome is not a minor inconvenience. For many high-achieving professionals, it is a daily, exhausting performance — maintaining an external appearance of competence whilst privately bracing for exposure. At London Trusted Therapy, we work with ambitious, accomplished people who are tired of feeling like frauds in their own lives.

A clinically led, multidisciplinary team

Every practitioner at London Trusted Therapy holds substantial postgraduate training and professional accreditation, with a minimum of five years of clinical experience and an average of fifteen to twenty years across the team. Our practitioners include chartered and counselling psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors accredited with the BACP, UKCP, COSRT and HCPC- all working under the clinical direction of Dr Olena Edwards-Skadowska, BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, MBPsS, FMBPsS, and actively practising clinician.

Dr Edwards-Skadowska is the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award for Services to Mental Health, presented at the Health 2.0 Global Conference 2024 — a recognition that reflects the values of excellence, integrity, and genuine clinical commitment that run through everything London Trusted Therapy does.

At London Trusted Therapy, you will be seen by a practitioner who is an expert in imposter syndrome and self-worth — someone who brings deep, focused expertise to your presentation, rather than whoever is next available.

What Our Clients Say About Us

4.86 rating based on Doctify, Google and Trustpilot reviews

The Breadth to Meet Your Full Picture

Imposter syndrome frequently coexists with anxiety, perfectionism, or patterns rooted in earlier relational experiences. Our multidisciplinary structure means that where your presentation is complex, we can draw on the wider team — including EMDR for earlier experiences that have shaped your self-belief, or psychiatric review where anxiety is clinically significant. Care is coordinated within one practice, by people who know you.

A holistic, integrative approach

London Trusted Therapy is a holistic practice. We do not begin with a protocol and fit you to it — we begin with you. For imposter syndrome, this means drawing on psychodynamic and existential approaches to explore the origins and meaning of the belief that you are not enough — the early relational experiences, cultural contexts, and internal narratives that have shaped your self-perception. Mindfulness-based approaches help you develop a more observational, less reactive relationship with self-critical thought. Where restructuring unhelpful thinking patterns is useful, CBT is integrated; where broader values clarification and psychological flexibility are indicated, we draw on ACT. Therapeutic coaching then helps translate insight into genuine, embodied professional confidence.
