Our therapists draw on DBT, somatic approaches, trauma-informed therapy, and neurodiversity-affirming practice — developing both practical skills and a deeper understanding of the patterns that underlie your difficulties.
Emotional dysregulation can make life feel unmanageable — not because you are lacking in insight or effort, but because the emotional experience itself is genuinely more intense, and the pathways back to calm are less well established. At London Trusted Therapy, we understand this at both a neurological and a relational level, and we work with you to build something durable.
Every practitioner at London Trusted Therapy holds substantial postgraduate training and professional accreditation, with a minimum of five years of clinical experience and an average of fifteen to twenty years across the team. Our practitioners include chartered and counselling psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors accredited with the BACP, UKCP, COSRT and HCPC- all working under the clinical direction of Dr Olena Edwards-Skadowska, BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, MBPsS, FMBPsS, and actively practising clinician.
Dr Edwards-Skadowska is the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award for Services to Mental Health, presented at the Health 2.0 Global Conference 2024 — a recognition that reflects the values of excellence, integrity, and genuine clinical commitment that run through everything London Trusted Therapy does.

Emotional dysregulation rarely presents in isolation. Where it is associated with ADHD, autism, BPD, or trauma, our multidisciplinary structure allows for a fully coordinated response — including neurodevelopmental assessment, psychiatric review, EMDR for underlying trauma, and ongoing therapeutic support — all within one team that holds the whole picture.
London Trusted Therapy is a holistic practice. We do not begin with a protocol and fit you to it — we begin with you.
For emotional dysregulation, this means working at the level of the nervous system as much as the mind. Somatic Experiencing expands the window of tolerance directly — building physiological capacity for emotional intensity that cognitive approaches alone cannot reach. Mindfulness-based approaches develop the observational awareness needed to recognise and work with emotional states before they become overwhelming. DBT provides structured, evidence-based skills for distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness where these are indicated. Psychodynamic exploration addresses the relational and developmental roots of dysregulation. Where neurodivergent factors are present, our approach is adapted accordingly, with genuine understanding of how ADHD and autism intersect with emotional regulation.
Should you feel that your first session did not meet your expectations or that your therapist wasn’t a good fit, we will provide another session completely free of charge with a different practitioner.
