Our private dyslexia assessment is a comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation conducted in person at our Harley Street clinic or online. A full assessment typically takes between two and three hours and includes a detailed clinical interview covering developmental history, educational and occupational experience, and current challenges. We administer a battery of standardised, psychometrically validated tests evaluating phonological awareness, phonological memory, rapid automatised naming, single word reading and spelling, reading fluency, reading comprehension, working memory, processing speed, and cognitive ability.
The assessment produces a full written report that is SASC-compliant (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee) — meaning it is accepted by UK universities as evidence for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) applications, by schools and colleges for exam access arrangements including extra time, by employers as evidence for reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, and by Access to Work for funded workplace support. Where co-occurring difficulties such as ADHD, dyspraxia, or dyscalculia are identified during assessment, we note these clearly and can arrange further evaluation as required.

Autism Assessor (ADOS-2) Speech and Language Therapist
At London Trusted Therapy, we are acutely aware that dyslexia is not only a cognitive profile — it carries a significant emotional and psychological dimension. Many of our clients arrive at assessment having spent years feeling unintelligent, lazy, or broken, having developed shame around their difficulties, and having made educational and career choices designed to avoid situations where their struggles might be exposed. Our assessments are conducted with particular sensitivity to this dimension of the experience. We do not simply administer tests and issue a report — we take time to explain results in a way that is empowering and affirming, and we are able to provide onward therapeutic support for clients who find that receiving a diagnosis brings up complex feelings about their identity, history, and potential.
Following assessment we provide a detailed written report with clear, practical recommendations tailored to your specific learning profile — for educational institutions, employers, or your own personal use. Where therapeutic support would be beneficial, our team can offer dyslexia-informed therapeutic coaching, support for self-esteem and academic confidence, and guidance on strategies for managing dyslexia in daily professional and personal life. No GP referral is required to book, and appointments are typically available within one to two weeks.

Yes — co-occurrence is common. Dyslexia frequently presents alongside ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and autism, and the interaction between these profiles can create a complex and unique pattern of strengths and difficulties. Our educational psychologists are experienced in assessing complex, co-occurring presentations and will identify all significant specific learning differences within a single comprehensive assessment where possible.
