About Riffat

Riffat Hussein is a highly accomplished Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and ADOS-2 trained expert, with substantial experience supporting children and young people with autism and complex communication needs across mainstream, specialist, NHS and private clinical settings. She holds an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy and is a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Riffat has worked in a variety of senior clinical roles, including as a Lead Speech and Language Therapist and ASD Lead, where she held responsibility for autism assessments, complex caseloads, report writing and multidisciplinary collaboration. She is ADOS-2 trained and brings a thorough, evidence-based approach to autism assessment, combining structured observation with a comprehensive understanding of communication, interaction and sensory profiles.

Her clinical experience spans NHS services, autism specialist units and Harley Street private practice, providing her with a broad and informed perspective on how autism presents across different environments. Riffat is highly experienced in delivering and advising on a diverse range of evidence-based interventions, including SCERTS, PECS, Colourful Semantics, AAC, Attention Autism, and Lego Therapy, and is trained in working with both high- and low-tech communication systems.

Riffat is particularly passionate about early, accurate identification of autism, and believes that high-quality assessment plays a vital role in enabling effective support, inclusion, and positive long-term outcomes. She is known for her calm, client-centred approach and for working collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure assessments are thorough, respectful, and meaningful.

Riffat currently works as an ADOS Assessor and Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, delivering high-quality autism assessments and clear, practical recommendations tailored to each individual child and family.
