Housam Ebrahim is a highly experienced psychotherapist and mental health specialist with over 25 years of clinical practice spanning the NHS, international humanitarian work, and private therapy. Trained as a Registered Mental Health Practitioner and holding an MSc in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy from Birkbeck University of London, Housam brings a rare breadth of expertise that encompasses individual therapy, couples work, child and adolescent mental health, and trauma recovery.
Throughout his distinguished NHS career at Central and North West London Foundation Trust (CNWL), Housam has worked across the full spectrum of mental health settings — from adult acute in-patient services and CAMHS to community mental health and older adult services. For over a decade he worked as a Principal Mental Health Psychologist and Systemic Psychotherapist within CAMHS at the Marlborough Therapy Centre, supporting children, adolescents, and families through some of the most complex and sensitive presentations. He has also led group therapy programmes using evidence-based DBT modules, including Stabilisation Skills, Mood Management, and Distress Tolerance groups.
Housam’s clinical modalities include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic and Family Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, attachment-based approaches, and EMDR — which he has now completed to Part 4 through full EMDR Academy and EMDR UK training. He works fluently with trauma across all age groups, including survivors of war, imprisonment, torture, and modern slavery, and has particular expertise in supporting those living with PTSD and complex dual diagnosis presentations.
Beyond the NHS, Housam has provided psychological consultancy and clinical supervision to UNICEF in Jordan, working remotely with junior psychologists and offering direct psychological support to UNICEF staff — many of whom had experienced significant trauma. His international work also included assessment and treatment of child refugees, particularly those who had survived physical and sexual abuse, reflecting his deep commitment to cross-cultural, trauma-informed care.
What makes Housam especially distinctive at London Trusted Therapy is his ability to offer therapy in both English and Arabic, making him a profoundly valuable resource for Arabic-speaking clients who wish to process their experiences in their mother tongue. He brings not only considerable clinical skill but a warm, culturally sensitive presence — adapting his approach with sensitivity to gender, religion, cultural background, and life stage. Whether working with a young person navigating their first mental health crisis, an adult living with long-standing trauma, or a couple seeking to rebuild connection, Housam meets every client with patience, expertise, and genuine care.
