About Emma

Dr Emma Corcoran is a Clinical Psychologist at London Trusted Therapy, bringing a wealth of NHS experience and a deeply compassionate, person-centred approach to everyone she works with. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford, and is both HCPC-registered and BABCP-accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – but what truly sets Emma apart is the warmth and care she brings into the therapy room.

Alongside her work at London Trusted Therapy, Emma holds the role of Senior Clinical Psychologist within a community mental health team, and has recently taken up the position of Principal Clinical Psychologist within an Acute Crisis Pathway – a reflection of the exceptional clinical standing she has built throughout her career, and one that means London Trusted Therapy clients benefit from someone working at the very forefront of psychological care.

Emma draws on a rich and varied therapeutic toolkit, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), always tailoring her approach to the individual in front of her rather than a one-size-fits-all model. She is currently completing her EMDR training, and from October 2026 will be able to offer this too – meaning clients at London Trusted Therapy will have access to an ever-broadening range of evidence-based support. Emma is also an experienced clinical supervisor, generously sharing her expertise with fellow psychologists, trainees, and associate clinicians.

A particular passion of Emma’s is neuropsychological assessment, where her rigorous yet compassionate approach supports clients through evaluations for dementia and other neurodevelopmental and cognitive conditions – often a daunting and emotional process, which Emma navigates with sensitivity and skill. This makes her an invaluable member of the London Trusted Therapy team for clients and families seeking clarity alongside genuine emotional support.

Emma’s contribution to the field has been widely recognised: she was awarded the prestigious Una Holden Award from the Faculty of the Psychology of Older People in 2023, given to early-career clinicians making an exceptional contribution to their field. She has also been invited by University College London to deliver guest lectures on CBT, consistently praised by doctoral students for the passion and clarity she brings to teaching.

Emma’s doctoral training at Oxford took her across an unusually broad range of settings – older adult inpatient and community services, learning disability services, adult mental health, homelessness support, and child and adolescent care – giving her a genuine breadth of understanding across the whole lifespan. Her published research spans dementia caregiving, social connectedness, loneliness, and adolescent mental health, reflecting a career built on curiosity, evidence, and a real desire to understand what helps people thrive.

At London Trusted Therapy, Emma’s clients benefit not only from her outstanding clinical expertise, but from her genuine warmth, patience, and belief in every person’s capacity for growth and change.
